Welcome to Harry Wood, the whimsical hedgehog-themed café nestled in the heart of Nagoya, Japan. Set within the vibrant setting of Sakae, this unique animal café invites you to step into a world where you can interact with adorable hedgehogs in a clean, safe, and inviting atmosphere. On the third floor of the 南呉服町ビル, Harry Wood is not just any café; it’s an enchanting experience that combines the joy of animal interaction with a sense of calm and relaxation.

Upon entering, you're greeted by a warmly decorated space that perfectly balances comfort with an air of sophistication, thanks to its friendly staff and the serene ambiance. Visitors can enjoy a 30-minute session with a hedgehog for just ¥1500, which includes gentle guidance on how to properly hold and interact with these delightful creatures. With a limit of one hedgehog per two customers, each pair can enjoy moments of connection with their chosen spiky friend while respecting the animals' natural tendencies—after all, hedgehogs are solitary by nature and may prefer to remain in their cozy little caves.

Real-life customer experiences from visitors echo a common sense of wonder and joy at Harry Wood. Amber van Sloten described it as “such a cute experience” and praised the clear instructions provided by staff, allowing guests to engage with the hedgehogs respectfully. Shea Low echoed similar sentiments, appreciating the helpful staff who provide demonstrations on how to pick up the timid creatures. “The hedgehogs were incredibly cute,” she remarked, capturing the essence of the café perfectly.

If you’re a hedgehog fan—or perhaps just someone looking for a unique day out—you’ll be pleased to know you can also indulge in some hedgehog-themed merchandise during your visit. From adorable plush toys to quirky home decor, there’s a little something for everyone to take home, ensuring that the cheerful spirit of Harry Wood stays with you long after you've left.

Many guests have left with fond memories of snuggling with sleepy hedgehogs, with Clover Jean recounting how she was fortunate enough to have one rest cozily in her lap. This special connection, combined with the opportunity to feed these endearing animals with treats like mealworms and mini pellet snacks, offers an unforgettable experience for both young and old. For families visiting, Chrissy Glactard noted how accommodating the staff were, making it an enjoyable stop even for those with tiny tots in tow.

Whether you’re a local resident or just passing through Nagoya, Harry Wood is a destination that promises laughter, joy, and delightful interaction. It’s more than a café; it’s a cherished place where guests can create lasting memories among friendly hedgehogs and like-minded animal lovers. Don’t miss the chance to be part of this charming experience! For reservations or inquiries, feel free to reach out at +81 52-212-7880.

Such a cute experience. Clear instructions on how to handle them correctly and respectfully. Fun to watch others interacting with their hedgehog as well. The setup was great and staff friendly. We were just a walk-in, and there was plenty of availability.

The hedgehogs were incredibly cute and the place had a relaxing atmosphere. Staff were very helpful in showing us how to pick up the hedgehogs and what (not) to do. You get assigned to one hedgehog per two customers and are not allowed to interact directly with the others, though you can have a look around. A disclaimer: hedgehogs are solitary animals and can get frightened by human interaction.

The clerks are very polite. They speak a little English. It's ¥1500 for 30 min with a hedgehog and a chance to feed it. you have to choose between "cookies" or mealworms (live), and you quickly find out that the portions are pretty small. Five mealworms is pretty meager compensation for having to tolerate a human for 30 minutes! It is a decent place to find some hedgehog themed gifts. Deeply appreciative of Wataru-san for tolerating the whole thing. I get the impression that the hedgehogs would rather be hiding in a dark spot. After all, they are nocturnal creatures. Also, these are not pygmy hedgehogs, and most hedgehogs are not excited about being handled. Wear the protective gloves that are provided! It's probably best to feed them a few treats and let them do their own thing. N.B. This is not a café in the coffee sense. You can order coffee, but it's bottled.

SUCH a great experience!! Clean, safe, well staffed, good English assistance, great with babies (8 month old with us on tour)... Little hedgehogs were adorable and the food we could provide, the gloves you could wear and the staff's assistance made it all a lot of fun and a life goal I didn't know I had, ticked off! We booked online the day before.

The hedgehogs were very sleepy and just wanted to rest in their little cave-homes, but they were very cute. you can pick them up with gloves to protect your hands and maybe you'll be lucky and they'll sleep all cozy in your lap. The drinks are regular plastic/PET bottle drinks. You can feed them mini pellet treats and live worms which they especially love. There is also cute hedgehog merch ^~^ Staff was nice and explained things well, though it helps I understand some Japanese. She tried giving us another hedgehog because ours was so sleepy, but the other one was sleepy too It's a good way to see if you really want a hedgehog for a pet or not.
